PVL reaches out to PSC, requests resumption of team practice

The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) is reaching out to the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) with a request for the resumption of team training following the recent approval of basketball and football.

PVL organizer Sports Vision president Ricky Palou said they have prepared a letter to the PSC since the government sports agency is the proper channel to address their request.

The PSC will then forward it to the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases.

The PVL is classified as an amateur league, and its request to resume team training must go through the government sports agency.

Part of PVL’s request letter is the limited number of athletes during training as well as testing for the coronavirus.

“Medyo mahaba yung proposal namin because it will cover a lot of details,” Palou said, adding they are forwarding their request to the PSC within the week and are hoping for a favorable reply.

The Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas Inc. (LVPI) and six other National Sports Associations have already made its case to allow volleyball’s training resumptions, but their request were not included in IATF’s recent approval.

Only basketball and football were allowed following the request of the Philippine Basketball Association and football associations.

Palou is optimistic volleyball will be approved soon since there is gradual easing of restrictions in sports in this pandemic situation.
