Mitsubishi Motors Philippines produces 200,000th L300

Planned for export to other ASEAN nations

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) has reached another milestone with the roll out of its 200,000th L300 production unit. The iconic utility van has sold more than 190,000 units and is perceived to be the most trusted model in the country because of its dependable engine, durable quality and affordable price.

“This achievement is a reflection of the resiliency of MMPC. Despite the current challenges that we are facing due to the COVID19 pandemic, we are still geared to provide the market with quality vehicles and support Filipino livelihood through serving transportation and business needs,” said Mutsuhiro Oshikiri, President and CEO of MMPC.

“Also, aligned with the Philippines government’s effort to battle the spreading virus, MMPC has lent out several Mitsubishi L300 units to both local and national government for various outreach activities,” he added.

MMPC has been operating for over 56 years as an automotive manufacturer and distributor. The company’s years of operation in the industry and its ability to surpass several economic challenges is a testament to MMPC’s strong and pliant characteristic.

The Mitsubishi L300 has been offered in the market for 3 decades, offered in van, cab and chassis and various other configurations for small to large industries. It was offered continuously and built locally until 2017, when it was briefly paused due to tightening emissions standards. It was relaunched in 2019 with a new Euro-4 complaint engine.

Besides catering to local demand, MMPC hopes to export the Euro-4 L300 to neighboring ASEAN countries as part of its Export Project Plan.

“We are committed to further grow and expand the business of Mitsubishi Motors in the Philippines. We are in the process of finalizing our plans to export L300 to other ASEAN countries, which makes us the only automotive manufacture in the Philippine to export vehicles.” Said Takao Kato, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation’s (Japan) Chief Executive Officer.

“We will work even harder to enhance MMPC plant’s competitiveness and quality, so that we can make L300 a trusted model in ASEAN.”
