Davao de Oro reports 3 frontliners as new COVID-19 cases

DAVAO CITY – A nurse, medical technologist and driver of the provincial government of Davao de Oro were among the latest coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases reported in Davao region on Thursday.

In a statement on Thursday, the Davao de Oro government said the three patients were already in an isolation facility, and that contact tracing was ongoing to identify those who they have come to have direct contact. 

“Nakig-coordinate usab kita sa atong municipal local government units (MLGUs) aron pag-atiman usab sa ilang tagsa-tagsa nga pamilya, pag-isolate kanila, pagpahiluna, ug pagcontact tracing sa tanang nakahimamat nila (We have also coordinated with our MLGUs to assist their families, to isolate them, attend to them and conduct contact tracing of those whom they have related with),” the Davao de Oro government added in a statement. 

The report said the nurse went to the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Nabunturan town to get a license. The authorities immediately responded upon the release of the positive result. 

LTO-Nabunturan has temporarily ceased its operations on Thursday for disinfection. 

The medical technologist of the provincial government was a resident of Laak, and has not been home for two weeks already. 

The local government said the health worker lives alone in a boarding house in Tagum City. It said that, after learning about the positive test result, the medical technologist was immediately placed in an isolation facility. 

Meanwhile, the PLGU-Davao de Oro said medical doctors were currently investigating the condition of the driver whose family member had prior illness. 

The provincial capitol will have massive disinfection from Thursday until Friday, July 31. 

As of July 30, Davao de Oro has tallied 93 cases of COVID-19, 59 of which are active.
