'Crash Landing on You,' 'The World of the Married' are most talked about K-dramas online

“Crash Landing on You” of tvN and “The World of the Married” and “Itaewon Class” of JTBC became the overall most talked about Korean dramas in the first half of the year, according to a survey.

The Korea Communications Commission (KCC), a government agency “responsible for regulating broadcasting and communications services,” has released the results of a survey on internet reactions to TV programs in the first half of 2020 based on online posts, online comments, number of views on related video and news articles. 

It covered 74 TV dramas aired in South Korea in the first half of the year, 192 entertainment TV programs and 58 culture-related programs. 

KCC said actor Hyun Bin’s character as Captain Ri Jung-hyuk in “Crash Landing on You” garnered a lot of online reactions. “The World of the Married” got many responses for its unprecedented storyline and the stars’ acting while “Itaewon Class” gained attention for its OST (original soundtrack). 

Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin starred in “Crash Landing on You” while Park Seo-joon was the lead in “Itaewon Class,” and Kim Hee-ae and Park Hae-joon were in “The World of the Married.” 

Based on online posts, the top 10 are “Crash Landing on You” with an average of 12,044 posts followed by “The World of the Married,” 10,347; “The King: Eternal Monarch,” 10,055; “Hot Stove League,” 9,813; “Itaewon Class,” 7,691; “Dr. Romantic 2,” 4,255; “Hospital Playlist,” 4,190; “Hi Bye, Mama!,” 3,414; “It's Okay to Not Be Okay,” 2,923; and “Find Me in Your Memory,” 2,118. 

The top 10 dramas based on online comments are “Crash Landing on You” with an average of 75,330 comments followed by “The World of the Married,” 71,703; “The King: Eternal Monarch,” 42,152; “Itaewon Class,” 40,043; “Hot Stove League,” 36,353; “Hospital Playlist,” 23,871; “Dr. Romantic 2,” 23,190; “Hi Bye, Mama!,” 16,254; “It's Okay to Not Be Okay,” 14,322; and “”Nobody Knows,” 14,063. 

Based on online video views, “Crash Landing on You” is still No. 1 with 12.86 million views; “The World of the Married,” 9.82 million; “Itaewon Class,” 5.19 million; “Dr. Romantic 2,” 3.76 million;  “Hot Stove League,” 3.36 million;  “Hospital Playlist,” 3.34 million; “Hi Bye, Mama!,” 3.17 million; “Once Again,” 1.92 million; “It's Okay to Not Be Okay,” 1.64 million; and “The King: Eternal Monarch,” 1.43 million. 

“The World of the Married” topped the list based on the number of news articles with 1,927 followed by “Crash Landing on You,” 1,725; “Kkondae Intern,” 1,719; “Itaewon Class,” 1,532; “Dr. Romantic 2,” 1,499; “Hot Stove League,” 1,419; “Hospital Playlist,” 1,215; “The King: Eternal Monarch,” 1,174;  “It's Okay to Not Be Okay,” 1,019; and “Woman of 9.9 Billion,” 932.
