Pregnant OFW from Macau is 32nd COVID-19 patient in Davao de Oro

DAVAO CITY - A 29-year old woman from Macau tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), and became the 32nd confirmed case recorded in Davao de Oro, and the third in the town of Maragusan, a local official said on Thursday.

In a statement, Maragusan Municipal Mayor Maricel Colina-Vendiola said the woman from Barangay Tigbao arrived from Taipa, Macau on June 18.

"Sayod ko sa atong mga pangandoy nga dili na madugangan ang positive sa atong lungsod. Apan karong adlawa, nadungagan napud kita’g isa nga positive case sa COVID-19 (I know we all hope that no more cases will be added here in our town, but today we have another positive case),” she said.

Colina-Vendiola said the woman was among the passengers of Philippine Airlines Flight PR353 who arrived in Manila at 4:15 p.m. on June 18.

The mayor said the woman stayed at the Citadines Hotel in Ortigas, Manila from June 18 to June 21, and arrived in Davao City on June 22.

Colina-Vendiola said the patient was fetched by the provincial vehicle from Francisco Bangoy International Airport, and arrived in Maragusan in the afternoon of June 22.

Upon her arrival, the woman was immediately referred to the Barangay Isolation Unit in Barangay Tigbao.

 “Gi-swab test siya niadtong June 29, 2020 sa Davao de Oro Provincial Hospital – Maragusan, nigawas ang resulta nga positibo siya sa COVID-19 karong adlawa, July 2, 2020 (She underwent swab testing on June 29 at the Davao de Oro Provincial Hospital - Maragusan and the results came out positive with COVID-19 today, July 2),” she said.

 The mayor added that the woman was asymptomatic.

She also appealed to the residents to follow health protocols to avoid the spread of the virus.
