More than a decade since he last held a filmmaking class, director Adolf Alix Jr. leads not just one or two, but 10 sessions on Zoom this month. 

He considers filmmaking his "second love."

"The last time I handled a film class was back in 2009. I always wanted to do it again if and when I have time. Now, I guess I can go back to it and I’m a little nervous but excited as I will be doing an online class on filmmaking - writing and directing with discussions about storytelling, creativity, and finding your filmmaking path," he wrote on Instagram.

In an infographic he posted online, Adolf shared his class presents a variety of topics relating to the directorial process, directing collaborations, directorial conventions, visual and aural storytelling, directing actors and other techniques and tools of the art and craft of directing. 

"Doing a film is like being in a class. You learn a lot of things as you progress in the process. Every step of the production is teeming with lessons waiting to be discovered. As indeed, the journey is more important than the destination. And now, as I decided to take a class on how to make films, I hope to also share what I learned," he wrote in another post. "I’m also looking forward to experiencing the new normal in this platform of learning. See you!"

Part of the proceeds from his sessions will go to his shooting family at Noble Wolf Productions.

Adolf graduated magna cum laude at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila with a degree in Mass Communications.

His first film, "Donsol" was a finalist in the 2006 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival and was the Philippines' official submission to the Academy Awards (Oscars) Best Foreign Language Film category. 

Some of his films have been screened at various international film festivals including Cannes, Toronto, Rotterdam, Busan, Warsaw, Moscow, and Mar del Plata.
