2-month old baby among 13 new COVID-19 cases in Negros Occidental

BACOLOD CITY - Thirteen more cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were reported in Negros Occidental, including a two-month-old baby, who was considered the youngest patient in Western Visayas.

According to the provincial government, the baby boy from Moises Padilla town was among the 10 locally stranded individuals (LSIs), who arrived in the province from Manila. 

The baby, tagged as Patient No. 95 in the province, was well as he was asymptomatic. He is currently quarantined at a facility.

The 10 infected LSIs were from the cities of Himamaylan, Sagay, Cadiz, and Escalante, and the towns of Hinoba-an and Cauayan, while three other LSIs who came from Cebu, were from Escalante City and Calatrava town. All of them are currently in quarantine facilities.

The province now has a total of 104 COVID-19 cases, with 17 recovered patients.

The recovered COVID-19 patients were five females and 12 males aged 19 to 45 from the cities of Silay, Escalante, Talisay, Bago, Cadiz, and Sagay, and the towns of E.B. Magalona, La Castellana, Candoni, Valladolid, Hinigaran, Murcia, Cauayan, and Binalbagan.

Ten of them were overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), and four were locally stranded individuals (LSIs), while three others were categorized as imported case of domestic and foreign.

Meanwhile, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson has extended the modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) in the entire province until July 15.
