Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski to talk POC with fellow IOC executive board members
Mikee Cojuangco Jaworski is expected to meet with fellow International Olympic Committee officials to update them on the Philippine Olympic Committee’s plans for charter change.
Jaworski, who was recently elected into the powerful IOC Executive Board, said it has been the IOC's priority to keep up with every National Olympic Committee constitutional amendments.
“Of course, the IOC has been hoping that the constitution would be amended by the (POC) election para mag-take-effect na yung bagong constitution,” she said in Tuesday’s Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum held online.
Jaworski said the POC is required to hold the elections this year as part of its by-laws where elections must be held during the Olympic year whether or not the Games push through.
The 2020 Tokyo Olympics was rescheduled next year.
“The IOC expects the POC to adhere to our constitution,” she said.
Jaworski is positive that POC members would come into an understanding regarding the proposals included in the amendments.

This includes the controversial age-cap issue for POC executive board members and the removal of the chair and immediate past president positions in the board, which had the board divided.
“I believe naman na bawat isa sa POC board, ang interest nila is for the betterment of Philippine sports. Importante yung mapag-usapan nila yung mga issues and you can be honest and open and be included sa proseso,” she said.
“We have to come out to an understanding of each other and be able to explain to everybody kung ano ba yung rationale behind the proposals. When I come to the meetings, it is on what is the recommendation of the IOC.”
