17 barangays in Pasay City declared as critical zone areas due to high virus cases

Pasay City now has 17 barangays declared as critical zone areas (CrZ) due to the high number of confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases.

The 17 barangays declared as critical zone areas based on the memorandum order issued by City Administrator Dennis Bernard Acorda are Barangays 14, 34, 37, 42, 46, 66,106, 144, 169, 171, 177, 183, 184, 185, 190, 193,and 201. 

Barangays 183 and 193 were added to the list recently with 42 and 33 COVID-19 cases. 

Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, said 11 barangays were initially declared as critical zone areas from July 8 to July 22 due to the high number of COVID-19 cases. 

Three more barangays were declared as CrZ from July 13 to July 27, two more barangays were declared critical zones from July 18 to August 1 and another barangay from July 22 to August 1.

Rubiano said the CrZ status of barangays 14, 34, 37, 42, 46, 66, 106, 144, 169, 171, 177 from July 8 to July 22 was extended up to August 5 due to the rising COVID-19 cases.

The mayor said under the CrZ status, all movements in the barangay are restricted allowing only one authorized person per household to buy  basic needs, mandatory wearing of face masks shall be observed as well as curfew hours.

Barangay chairmen of the identified villages were ordered to set-up check points supervised by the police and arrest violators.

“I am reiterating my reminder to all Pasayenos that COVID-19 continues to infect many of our people. Please follow the health protocols as directed by the city government as well as the national government thru the IATF,” Rubiano said.

She also instructed the police and barangay officials to see to it that Pasayenos follow the health protocols and called on business establishments to implement the same rules in their premises.
