UAAP: Virtual show to wrap up Season 82

The UAAP officially wraps up its 82nd season on Saturday with a virtual closing ceremony.

The online event will be streamed live at 4 p.m. on ABS-CBN Sports’ website, Facebook and YouTube accounts.

More than highlighting the athletes’ excellence in collegiate sports, the ceremony will also showcase the member school’s spirit of camaraderie in the current coronavirus pandemic situation.

It will also recognize schools and athletes who have done charity work during the pandemic.

The league halted the season last April following rigid quarantine restrictions brought by the global health crisis. This includes holding mass gatherings including sporting events.

Centerpiece volleyball was among those affected by the season cancellation, as well as football, baseball, softball, athletics, tennis and 3x3 basketball.

Despite the shortened season, the league will still award University of Santo Tomas the general championship trophy for both high school and seniors division.

It will also turn over the hosting duties from Ateneo to De La Salle for the next season.
