Binangonan public market to remain closed for disinfection until July 26

BINANGONAN, Rizal -  The town’s public market and adjacent streets have been closed for four days now after the local government placed the area on total lock down until July 26.  

In an announcement on its Facebook page, the Binangonan Municipal Government said that the entire Binangonan Public Market and its 200 meter radius vicinity, will be on total lock down until Sunday, July 26, for disinfection measures.

Since the market’s temporary closure on July 21, the local government has subjected the vendors and stall owners to rapid diagnostic testing as part of its Expanded and Targeted COVID-19 Testing program of the municipal government.

Municipal Administrator Russel Ynares told Manila Bulletin that the lpublic market was placed on lockdown after ten market vendors tested positive for COVID-19 recently.

“Before the entire public market was closed, we just initially closed certain sections of the market where the infected vendors were working. But some enterprising stall owners just transferred their wares outside, driving people to converge to those areas, so we decided to totally close the market.” Ynares added.

The office of Mayor Cesar Ynares, also announced that the Rizal Provincial Capitol has been helping the municipality in the rapid testing through the capitol’s COVID Testing online booking system aside from the town’s Expanded and Targeted Testing here.

Administrator Ynares said that the town continues to conduct free rapid testing to residents at the Binangonan Municipal Community Health Center, formerly the Binangonan Municipal Hospital at Pritil, Libis.  Scheduling of the testing is also through online, by registering at   Binangonan Free COVID TEST ONLINE BOOKING: https://www.facebook.com/BinangonanFreeCovidTest/
