The Mercedes-Benz G 350d

Since its inception in 1979, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class has offered outstanding driving characteristics and impressive off-road capabilities. Even 40 years later, the iconic off-roader of Mercedes-Benz has evolved further while retaining its character and uniqueness.

Now, Mercedes-Benz’s most iconic SUV is expanding its powertrain lineup with an efficient diesel variant. The new G 350d serves as the new point of entry to the G-Class family.

Powering the new G 350d is a 2,925 cc inline six-cylinder diesel engine that delivers a solid 286 horsepower and churns out a stonking 600 Nm of torque. The powerful diesel engine is paired with efficient emissions reduction systems that are installed directly in the engine. This contributes to faster effectiveness of the catalytic converter and the diesel particulate filter. Thanks to the near-engine insulated configuration, the emission control system has little heat loss and ideal operating conditions.

For the transmission of power, the 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission with torque converter was specifically adapted to meet the needs of the off-road icon. There is a dedicated software application to shorten the shift and response times of the nine-speed transmission and make the G-Class seem even more lively. The wide transmission ratio not only makes driving quieter and more comfortable especially at low engine speeds, it simultaneously contributes to reducing fuel consumption.

The new G 350d looks impressive on the outside with 19-inch five twin spoke light alloy wheels, metallic paintwork, and front illuminated door sill panels. The LED High Performance Headlights make a powerful final touch.

On the inside, cutting-edge technology starts with its Keyless-Go function. The G 350 d boasts high-quality interior with leather seats, leather grab handles for front passengers, an automatic dimming interior mirror and ambient lighting in 64 colors and 10 color schemes. The media interface cable is also exciting with a widescreen cockpit resolution display with 12.3inch screen diagonal for instrument displays.

The G 350d is outstanding both on and off the road. Its Dynamic Select offers up to five drive modes for the G-Class is a standard. This allows adjusting the vehicle characteristics in seconds at the touch of a button, as the system modifies the characteristics of the engine, transmission, suspension, and steering at the driver's behest.

In addition, the G 350d offers a host of driver assistance systems such as Adaptive Brake Lights and Active Braking Assist to prevent impending collisions or mitigate their consequences and assist the driver during emergency braking. If necessary, it will brake autonomously if the driver takes no action to defuse a detected dangerous situation.

The new G 350d boasts of a fine mix of off-roading ability and creature comforts that Mercedes-Benz is known for.
