She may be a loving mother but veteran actress Lotlot de Leon is also her children’s top critic. 

No wonder that from the time her eldest daughter with actor Ramon Christopher, Janine Gutierrez, entered show business, the latter would always get frank comments and pointers about her acting and career direction from Lotlot.

In 2012, then newbie Janine got a text message from Lotlot about one of the former’s scenes on TV drama romance "Makapiling Kang Muli" co-starring Richard Gutierrez and Carla Abellana.  Apparently, mother thought daughter could have done better and she said, "Anak, 'wag na 'wag mo ng uulitin 'yun."

That anecdote was brought up in Janine's latest vlog. At one point, Janine asked Lotlot how she finds her acting, if she wasn’t good at it.

"It's not that you’re not a good actress. When you were starting in the industry, I felt like it wasn't in your heart yet, what you're doing. That's why in the beginning, I'm always telling you 'Are you sure this what you want to do?' Because you're the one who said na gusto mong mag-artista. When I saw that you weren't really taking it seriously, of course, it comes out sa trabaho, nagre-reflect," Lotlot explained. 

She said that as a mother, it’s her responsibility to tell her kids when they do good---and when they don’t.

Still, Lotlot said it’s always constructive criticism. And that she’s proud of who Janine has become and what she’s achieved in her career. The mother even highlighted that Janine won an international award.
