88rising teases new music collective of Filipino artists

Welcome Paradise Rising, coming July 31

It is near impossible to accurately describe what 88rising is. It is not just a music collective, not just a management team, not just a marketing company. Founded by Sean Miyashiro in the US, the collective has successfully helped emerging musicians representing the Asian youth of today cross over internationally. Their artists have transcended a single medium, becoming major pop culture icons.

In a tweet published on July 21, 88rising announced their upcoming music collective “representing the next wave of artists from the Philippines.” It is aptly named Paradise Rising. The teaser video captures the beauty of our archipelago: the juxtaposition of the bustling city with the beautiful tranquility of our provinces and coastlines.

According to the tweet, the music collective will officially launch on July 31. There has been no news as to which local artists are part of the collective. During 88rising’s Asia Rising Forever online concert, singer-songwriter Iñigo Pascual was the only Filipino in the lineup.

88rising manages some of the most recognizable artists who represent their Asian generation, such as Rich Brian, Joji, and NIKI. Other popular, boundary-pushing Asian artists who have released under the 88rising label include Rina Sawayama(“Valentine (What’s It Going To Be)”) and Yaeji (“raingurl”).

“Paradise rises soon,” tweets 88rising. “Ride with us.”
