In this time of health crisis, even celebrities are forced to adapt to the new normal situation of working at home and even selling items online in order to survive.

Some people frown on it, saying it seems “degrading” to the stars given their status and image.

But host-actor Drew Arellano sees no problem with it.

In an interview with Bulletin Entertainment, he said people should uphold dignity of labor; that is, no occupation should be superior over the rest and all deserve respect.

"(In this pandemic) I'm a fighter (same as everyone else). My goal is to make my family comfortable so I soldier on,” he said. “You know, we (talents) have to do something. You can't just ask money na lang. You have to work for it so there's nothing wrong if you engage in different ways to earn, like online selling."

Tonipet Gaba thinks so too. He said it’s all about survival

"I actually commend anybody na gagawin lahat para sa pamilya niya,” he said. “If you're the boss pre-pandemic, then you do something different during pandemic, there's nothing wrong with that. You have to swallow your pride. So what, 'di ba?"

The host calls the pandemic "the great equalizer."

"Matatauhan ka talaga eh. Dito mo mare-realize na pantay-pantay lang talaga tayong lahat."

Due to stoppage of work, many stars also do vlog even if it means less privacy for them since most of these have to be shot at home given the community quarantine we are under.

Drew doesn’t see it that way.

"Ever since naman, I’ve regulated myself when it comes to showing stuff (about my life to the public). But because of this pandemic, you can't help but, like, show parts of your home to your viewers because this is where you work," he said.

"It has become an advantage to us. Kasi dati, tambakan tong area but now, napilitan kami ayusin para gawing studio, because my wife (Iya Villania) also works for “24 Oras” in here. Syempre, we have to be presentable so it open doors for us to be you know, resourceful."

Tonipet and Drew are part of GMA Public Affairs' new program “New Normal: The Survival Guide.”  It is the country’s first daily magazine program entirely conceptualized with the ‘new normal’ in mind.

From life hacks, money tips, family bonding ideas, inspirational stories, and burning issues that need discussion—“New Normal: The Survival Guide” aims to help Filipinos navigate the new way of living.

Joining them are Winnie Monsod, Kara David, Susan Enriquez and Rovilson Fernandez.

Every Thursday, Tonipet and Rovilson join forces in "Home Work"to give viewers life hacks in the time of new normal. Young people and gimikeros who are home 24/7 for the first time in their lives will be able to relate to “Home Work” where Tonipet and Rovilson dish out tips on how to survive quarantine life and navigate the household.

Friday nights are bound to be extra fun for parents because of “Family Time.” Drew showcases his side as a dad and family man and opens up to viewers his journey as a parent amid the new normal.

Beginning July 20, “New Normal: The Survival Guide” airs weeknights at 8:30 on GMA News TV.
