VOICE FROM THE SOUTH

This coronavirus has wrecked havoc on the world. It started at the beginning of the year but what concerns us more is: when will it end? There is real concern that it will not end giving us trouble earlier than 2022. That is a real disaster.  We have the consolation that our President has been prudent and we have not suffered as much as we could have. They say that countries with women leaders have done better than others. But that is consuelo de bobo. We have not suffered as much as our American friends whose leader has chosen to adopt wishful thinking instead of following science.  They have the best scientists in the world but what good is that to them if they are not followed? Millions have now gotten sick of this virus that will probably have some minor effects for the rest of their lives. What is more regretful is there are over a million who have lost their lives.
Again we have been blessed. We are among the few who have not gone against the mandates of the Lord and have not legislated taking of lives in abortion. How do we expect the Lord to protect us if we go against His laws. We take the lives of innocent children.  How do we expect the Lord to keep us safe? There are those who do not believe in a benevolent God. But we do. He is our Father. We have to honor his commands if we are to be safe from viruses and other disasters. There is hope that by the end of this year we will already have a vaccine that will protect us, just we have a vaccine against rabies. We have plenty of mad dogs. But we have herd immunity against rabies even if it still exists. What does that mean? It only means that it cannot spread out of control of our medical personnel.
We pray to God to help us remove this scourge from our midst. Then we can start our lives all over again as before COVID 19 arrived.  We cannot be as before if we do not get a vaccine at least.  We also hope for a cure. We know that sharks are not attacked by viruses.  And we have plenty of sharks in our country. We also have coconut oil whose wonders we have not fully exploited. We are therefore asking our scientists not to wait for scientists of other countries.  They are capable of contributing against this horrible scourge. With the help of God we can find both a vaccine and a cure for this horrible virus. We need to pray.  We cannot do it by ourselves.
We have good news that there are vaccine makers already testing their vaccines on twenty thousand volunteers. This is the last stage but it has to be proven that they are effective and safe. This is the problem. When we developed a vaccine against dengue, we did not have the luxury of testing it for safety and effectiveness in volunteers before it was approved. We have to appeal to our Father in heaven to help us in our search both for a vaccine and a cure. The future looks dark. What if we do not have a vaccine in two years? Our businesses and our schools cannot be on the level before the virus attacked us. Many of our people can go hungry by that time. We need to encourage our scientists but also to pray to God for help.
