Why Wendell Ramos took firefighter training

Passion in fulfilling a childhood dream prompted actor Wendell Ramos to train as volunteer firefighter.

"Hilig ko rin naman po talaga nung bata po," he said on "Unang Hirit." "To be honest, hindi ko po ginawa ito para mapag-usapan lang po."

That was the primary reason. Another was to encourage people to follow in his footsteps, to just serve the country any way they want.

Did he enjoy the experience?

"Ang 'pag bubumbero hindi lang sa pagpatay ng apoy, hindi lang sa pag-rescue pero 'yung paglilinis -- very important. Pag-linis ng kalsada, supply ng tubig..." he said at one point.

Few weeks ago, Bulletin Entertainment reported Wendell about his training and that he found it to be a "humbling experience."

“It was really an honor to train and be a certified ABP (Ang Bumberong Pilipinas).”
