The Philippine Football Federation has set up multiple guidelines on the potential return of football competitions in the professional and amateur scene once the government eases its community quarantine regulations.
Among the protocols mentioned by the PFF are the ones submitted by the Games and Amusements Board regarding how the Philippines Football League can resume under strict measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The PFF said it has adopted guidelines provided by world government body FIFA and the World Health Organization as well as ideas taken from strategies of football leagues that have resumed competition.
Top leagues in England, Spain and Germany have resumed with matches being held behind closed-door and using a “bubble setup.”
Meanwhile, six local competitions are suspended until further notice, namely the Regional Festival of Football, PFF Women’s League, U-15 and U-17 Boys Championship and the U-16 and U-18 Girls Championship.
Overseas, the PFF has been notified of the rescheduled matches in the FIFA World Cup/Asian Cup Qualifiers in October and November.
The AFF Suzuki Cup, the premier men’s competition in Southeast Asia, has still no plans to reschedule its tournament slated Nov. 23 to Dec. 31.
