CEBU CITY — Work at the Cebu Provincial Capitol was suspended Wednesday, July 1, to pave way for a thorough disinfection
Upon the recommendation of Dr. Christina Giango, chief of the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO), only essential staff will be allowed at the Capitol while person-to-person transactions are suspended until July 3.
A work-from-home scheme was also implemented. Â
Personnel of IPHO, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) and the Civil Security Unit (CSU) will be deployed in the Capitol compound while full disinfection procedures are conducted.
Normal operations will resume on July 6.
The Capitol Building is situated in the heart of Cebu City, which is now considered the epicenter of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) with its more than 5,000 cases.
As of June 30, 15 capitol workers were found positive of COVID-19, 12 of them were residents of Cebu City.
The other two COVID-19 patients were from Mandaue City, and while the other one was from Talisay City.
One capitol personnel has already succumbed to COVID-19 last week.
