Iloilo City—Filipino Grammy winner Jhett Dizon Tolentino is being recognized in his hometown.

The Iloilo City Council passed a resolution last April 4 in recognizing the talented Filipino producer who hails from Calumpang, a poor coastal village in Molo district.

City Councilor Joshua Alim, the resolution’s sponsor, is also urging the Office of Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog to declare Tolentino as an Outstanding Iloilo.

Alim said Tolentino is not only the pride of Iloilo, but the entire country for winning both the Grammy (for music) and Tony (for theater).

Tolentino won the Grammy awards earlier this year as one of the producers for “The Color Purple”, which was named s Best Musical Theater Album.

Tolentino also bagged three Tony awards. He co-produced award-winning “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike” (Best Play in 2013), “A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder (Best Musical in 2014) and “A Raisin in the Sun” (Best Revival of a Play in 2014).

In his social media posts, Tolentino would usually use the hashtag #iAmIloilo in reference to his hometown.
