The British virtual band, Gorillaz is finally back to feed fan's hungry ears with a newly released song “HALLELUJAH MONEY” collaborated with Benjamin Clementine.
The track is politically charged at a capitalist society in which money is worshiped.
Some suspect that that it is aimed at the new president himself, since the both visual and lyrical elements appeared to criticize him. Another red flag was that the actual song was released on the evening of Trump’s inauguration.
Gorillaz is a band represented by a cast of cartoon characters. The band was created by the lead singer of the British rock band Blur.
Since their last album before their six year break, their songs have never really been political.
Along with the song, the band's animated bassist gives a message, “In these dark times, we all need someone to look up to. Me. That’s why I’m giving you this new Gorillaz song, a lightning bolt of truth in a black night. You’re welcome. Now piss on! The new album’s not gonna write itself.”
