Manila International Airport Authority General Manager Ed Monreal confirmed today that three airport security officers tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019.
Monreal said the three employees were the ones who informed the agency of their positive results.
They are now under home quarantine because they are asymptomatic. The Department of Health is already conducting contact tracing.
MIAA does not have a reporting system on the total number of COVID-19 cases involving all persons working in the airport because by protocol, every government agency, airline or private concessionaire in the complex is in charge of their employees who get sick.
The DOH also provides identity protection for COVID positive patients.
"We cannot compel airport stakeholders to report to us if they have a staff who test positive because it is expected that the subject person will follow the DOH reporting protocol," Monreal said.
