Palace: Travel within NCR no problem

Malacañang said there's no problem with making trips around Metro Manila for essential travel as the region shifts to general community quarantine (GCQ) on Monday (June 1).

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque made the statement as 10 areas shift to GCQ from June 1 to June 15 while the rest of the country will be under modified GCQ (MGCQ), which is even more relaxed.
In a radio interview on Sunday, Roque said making trips using a private car around Metro Manila was fine as long as it for essential purposes.
But for areas outside the region, Roque said it would be better for people to ask the local government unit (LGU) of their destination if they require anything before they make their way there, especially if the area is under MGCQ.
"Indispensable travel pa rin po iyan, at nasa lokal na pamahalaan po na nasa MGCQ kung ano ang requirements nila (Only indispensable travel is allowed, and it is up to the LGU of the MGCQ area what their requirements are)," he said.
According to Roque, an LGU has the authority to ask for a health clearance and to place under quarantine travelers from other areas.
"Ang advice ko po, makipag-ugnayan po sa lokal na pamahalaan kung saan kayo pupunta nang wala pong maging aberya sa inyong biyahe (My advice is to coordinate first with your destination LGU so there won't be any problems with your journey)," he said.
Meanwhile, Roque said domestic flights between areas of the same quarantine classifications are allowed but said there was no official announcement yet to this effect.
"Theoretically po, ang lahat ng flights ng GCQ to GCQ ay papayagan na. Pero aantayin po natin ang CAAP (Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines) na sila po ang mag-provide ng guidelines (Theoretically, all flights between GCQ areas are allowed, but let's wait for the CAAP to issue guidelines)," he said.
"Kinakailangan din ng panahon ng ating mga airplane companies para maghanda po sa resumption ng kanilang operations (Our airline companies also need time to prepare for the resumption of their operations),"
