CAMP COL. RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – Authorities successfully rescued 13 victims, including 12 minors, in an entrapment operation in a cybersex den in Purok 5 Barangay Ambago, Butuan City, on Thursday, May 21, police reported Friday.
The raid was conducted on the strength of a search warrant in the suspected cybersex den, it said.
Four of the victims were one to three years old, who were considered as “children at risk”, while the other nine victims were aged 11 to 19 years old who were alleged forced to engage in sexual acts in exchange for payment in the amount of P2,000 to P20,000, depending on the kind of “show” requested by online clients coming from the Philippines and abroad.
Authorities implemented the search warrant against a 28-year-old female suspect, who was a resident of Purok 5, Barangay Ambago, Butuan City. She was arrested during the raid, together with her live-in partner.’
The Women and Children Protection Center – Mindanao Field Unit revealed that they started conducting surveillance and case build-up against the suspect in December 2019 through conduct of constant cyberspace patrolling.
During the conduct of the search, authorities recovered pieces of evidence of the crime such as assorted cellphones, assorted identification cards, remittance cards, MLhuillier Receipts, Palawan Receipts, Cebuana Lhuillier Receipts, lubricant, tablet and router.
The operating personnel also recovered four improvised long firearms, a replica of a caliber 45 pistol; a caliber-.38 revolver with six live ammunition, and bladed weapons believed to be owned by the live-in partner of the main suspect.
The minors were turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Region 13 (DSWD-13), while the suspects and pieces of evidence were placed under the custody of Butuan Police Station 3.
