The Department of Social Welfare and Development Central Office's (DSWD-CO) quick response fund (QRF) has increased to P484.85 million, based on the latest DSWD-Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) report.
Based on the DROMIC report as of 6 p.m. Saturday (May 16), the DSWD-CO received an additional P284.94 million QRF within the day, increasing its P199.91 million QRF to P484.85 million. It is unclear where the additional amount came from.
With the additional QRF, the agency's standby funds are now pegged at P524.3 million, from the reported P239.36 million standby funds as of 6 a.m. Saturday.
Of the DSWD's P524.30 million standby funds, P39.45 million was declared as available funds at the field offices.
DSWD Spokesperson Irene Dumlao on Saturday afternoon said the agency has requested an additional P662 million budget from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to replenish its depleting QRFs to assist the areas hit by tropical storm "Ambo" as well to augment relief support to areas which remain under lockdown.
"We requested DBM for the replenishment of quick response fund in the amount of P662 million," she told reporters in a Viber message. "It is a standard practice to replenish QRF. We request when fund is half depleted."
She explained that since QRF is a standby fund used to cover relief and rehabilitation in cases of disasters and calamities, it can be tapped to provide relief assistance to typhoon victims and those affected by the government's continued imposition of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
