DSWD: 73.47 percent of target beneficiaries have received 1st tranche of SAP aid

By Charissa Luci-Atienza  Over 1.14 million low-income and non-Pantawid Pamilya program (4Ps) families or 73.47 percent of 1,558,615 households in Metro Manila targeted to receive the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) subsidy have received the first tranche of their cash aid, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said on Sunday (May 10). DSWD-National Capital Region (NCR) Regional Director Vicente Gregorio Tomas disclosed that as of 6 p.m. on May 9, a total of 1,145,117 families have been served so far, receiving more than P9.16 billion worth of cash subsidies. "The number of beneficiaries who received SAP grants is 1,145,117 families or 73.47 percent, equivalent to 9,160,936,000.00 billion pesos," he said in a Viber message. The amount of cash subsidies distributed in the NCR is 73.4 percent of the P12,468,920,000 downloaded to the 17 LGUs, 16 of which are cities. Tomas noted that of the 17 LGUs in Metro Manila, only Caloocan City has so far completed the SAP distribution. Meanwhile, 11 other LGUs were able to serve more than half of their target beneficiaries: Parañaque (97.57 percent), Valenzuela (95.99 percent), Mandaluyong (94.69 percent), Marikina (89.76 percent), Pasig (85.86 percent), Manila (79.78 percent), Pateros (75.98 percent), Quezon City (72.01 percent), Muntinlupa (61.83 percent), Las Piñas (57.84 percent), and San Juan (51.84 percent). "All LGUs are exerting extra efforts to meet the 10 May 2020 deadline" for completing the distribution of the first tranche of SAP aid, Tomas said. The DSWD transferred P12.46 billion in SAP funds to 17 LGUs to benefit 1,558,615 target low-income, non-4Ps families in the NCR. The breakdown of the P12.46 billion SAP funds downloaded to Metro Manila LGUs is as follows:

  • Caloocan P1.726 billion;
  • Las Piñas, P541.9 million;
  • Malabon, P335.048 million;
  • Makati, P558.30 million;
  • Mandaluyong, P368.37 million;

  • Muntinlupa, P430.68 million;
  • Navotas, P223.82 million;
  • Parañaque, P621.39 million;
  • Pasay, P370.28 million;
  • Pasig, P750.93 million;
  • Pateros, P53.65 million;
  • San Juan, P130.47 million;
  • Taguig, P739.77 million;
