Two 'fake' police officers with guns and drugs arrested

By Joseph Pedrajas Two men posing as police officers were arrested at the quarantine checkpoints in Quezon City in two separate incidents over the past two days. Police identified them as Henry Ysulat, 29, from Quezon City and Joselito Luz, 54, from San Juan City. (QCPD-PIO/MANILA BULLETIN) (QCPD-PIO/MANILA BULLETIN) Ysulat on Monday morning was aboard his motorcycle passing by a checkpoint on Payatas Road near the boundary of Montalban, Rizal when he was flagged down by authorities around 9:30 a.m. The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said that Ysulat then identified himself as officer assigned at Police Security and Protection Group, but when asked for verification, failed to present any identification cards. Ysulat was arrested when police found a caliber .99 mm pistol and several ammunition in his possession without pertinent documents. Also seized from him were a Baofeng handheld radio, several identification cards under his name, a blue cellular phone, a handcuff, a brown vest with “PULIS” markings and his service motorcycle. Police said that based on their interview with Ysulat, he got the firearms, ammunition and uniform from a relative who already retired from service. On the other hand, Luz on Sunday was among the 10 individuals arrested by QCPD for alleged possession of illegal drugs. Batasan Police Station Commander Lt. Col. Romulus Gadaoni said, members of District Mobile Force Battalion were manning a checkpoint on Batasan-San Mateo Road around 6:10 p.m. when they flagged down Luz aboard his motorcycle. According to a spot report, Luz, who was wearing a police upper athletic shirt, introduced himself as an officer, but when asked for his police identification, he failed to show any. And instead of driver's license, he was only able to present a traffic violation receipt. Police immediately frisked Luz, who then allegedly yielded a sachet of suspected shabu worth P2,500. He was immediately brought to police station for proper disposition.
