4.5-magnitude quake jolts Davao Occidental anew

By Mike Crismundo BUTUAN CITY – A 4.5-magnitude earthquake jolted Davao Occidental province Friday morning anew, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported. (MANILA BULLETIN) (MANILA BULLETIN) In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the tremor was recorded at 2:27 a.m. The epicenter was plotted 107 kilometers (km) southeast of Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental province. The tremor had a depth of only 17 km, Phivolcs said. The earthquake was tectonic in origin and no aftershock or tsunami alert was raised by the agency. The regional office of the Southern Mindanao Office of Civil Defense and provincial disaster risk reduction and management council there reported no damage or injury On Thursday night (Feb. 6), a 6.4-magnitude earthquake followed by another 4.6 magnitude quake struck of that same province, the state agency also reported. Phivolcs is not expecting aftershocks nor damages.
