The Senate committee on health and demography started its probe into the country’s response to the outbreak of 2019-novel coronavirus on Tuesday morning.

Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go, chair of the Senate health panel, in his opening statement reiterates that the government is not singling out Chinese nationals as it does its job to contain the spread of the disease.
More than 10 Cabinet members attended the hearing. Health Secretary Francisco Duque III is present at the ongoing hearing.
Among those present at the hearing are representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO), Research Institute of Tropical Medicine (RITM), Departments of Finance, Interior and Local Government, Foreign Affairs, and officials from PhilHealth, Philippine Ports Authority, and the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA).
The committee also invited experts on infectious diseases to participate in the public hearing.
