Driver shot dead in Pasay

By Dhel Nazario A driver was shot dead by two unidentified motorcycle-riding gunmen while driving in Pasay City on Friday night. The victim was identified as Jose Rubia. Rubia died on the scene, while two of his companions managed to escape as well as the suspects. Investigation showed that the incident occurred at around 7:46 p.m. along Saint Escolastica Street Barangay 13, Pasay City. Police said that Rubia who was driving a Mercedes Benz van with two others were traversing the said street when the armed suspects suddenly appeared from behind and fired upon them, hitting the driver. The authorities said the suspects escaped on foot after their motorcycle was pinned against the wall by the the van after the driver was shot. The Pasay City Rescue Team soon arrived but Rubia was declared dead. Police recovered from the scene a Yamaha Mio i 125, with plate number NF 85980. They are now looking at robbery as a motive, since one of the passengers is a Chinese businessman.
