The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has recorded no new cases of COVID-19 among overseas Filipinos.
"On this last day of the year, the DFA received no new COVID-19 reports among Filipinos abroad,” it said in its latest report on the number of coronavirus infections among Filipinos abroad.
The Department's tally on recoveries and fatalities was also unchanged. "The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases and recoveries remains at 12,876 and 8,387, respectively,” it said.
The agency vowed to keenly monitor the condition of Filipinos abroad and grant them the necessary assistance during this time of pandemic crisis.
"The DFA shall continue to keep track of the status of overseas Filipinos, assist and facilitate repatriations, whenever possible, and promote measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” it said.
As of December 31, there are 3, 578 overseas Filipinos who are undergoing treatment, the DFA said.
There are now 84 countries or regions with COVID-19 cases among Filipinos, it noted.
The DFA recorded 911 deaths, as of today.
Middle East/Africa had the highest number of Filipinos who caught the coronavirus disease with 7, 658 cases, followed by Asia Pacific Region with 2,664 cases, Europe with 1,772 cases and Americas with 782 cases.
