BACOLOD CITY – A four-year-old boy in Barangay Bacong, Bago City, Negros Occidental, was the first reported victim of fireworks-related incident in the city.
This was based on the report of the Bago City Health Office, which was posted by the Bago City Public Information Office (PIO) on Facebook.
The victim suffered an eye injury that was caused by a “boga”, a noisemaker made of PVC pipe or bamboo.
The city government launched an advocacy campaign to prevent firecracker-related incidents, and to remind the public about its risks.
According to the city’s PIO, 11 out of 54 cases recorded in the province from
December 2019 to January 2020, were from Bago City. Of the 11 victims, seven were minors.
