Two smugglers claiming to be MNLF nabbed

COTABATO CITY- Marine soldiers and policemen arrested two alleged members of the Moro National Liberation  Front while transporting smuggled cigarettes worth P1.5 million in Matanog Maguindanao over the weekend.

Lt. Chester Ross Cabaltera, spokesman of theNaval Forces Western Mindanao, said the suspects, identified as Karim Omar and Abdullah Saidan  were flagged down at a checkpoint aboard a cargo truck loaded with Fort brand smuggled cigarettes along the national highway in Barangay Sapad, Matanog town last December 27.

He said the suspects were taken to the Matanog police station after they failed to present pertinent documents relative to the importation of the seized  cigarettes.    

Authorities tagged the suspects to be behind the smuggling activities in the area.
