5 COVID-19 deaths reported in Baguio City, Benguet

BAGUIO CITY – Five new deaths related to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were reported in the city and nearby towns of La Trinidad and Itogon in the province of Benguet on Sunday, Dec.27.

Baguio City reported two fatalities, 29 new cases, and 42 recoveries.

The first fatality is a 62-year-old male admitted at Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) on Dec.17, but died on Dec.24 due to COVID-19. The second is a 64-year-old male who was also admitted at BGHMC on Dec.11 but died on Dec.27 due to COVID-19.

With the 29 new cases, the city now has 313 (8.28%) active cases, 3,407 (90.13%) recoveries, and 60 deaths (1.59%) from the total of 3,780 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic.

In the nearby province of Benguet, the capital town of La Trinidad posted two deaths - those of a 58-year-old male and an 85-year-old male, and another death in Itogon in a 74-year-old.

La Trinidad now has a total of 992 confirmed cases, 177 of which are active, 798 recoveries, and 17 deaths, while Itogon has 105 active cases, 728 recoveries, and seven deaths from a total of 840 confirmed cases.
