Pa who strangled 2 kids on Xmas day also killed wife on Xmas eve - Police

The Taguig City Police will file a complaint for parricide (three counts) against a father who is suspected of killing his wife on Christmas eve and two kids on Christmas Day.

Taguig City Police Chief Col. Celso Rodriguez told Manila Bulletin that the complaint will be filed today (December 28) against Aiko Siacunco, 29 of Kamias St., North Signal, Taguig City before the city prosecutor’s office of Taguig where he will undergo inquest proceedings.

He said the police determined that Siacunco killed his wife Karina on Dec. 24 and murdered his two kids, Akira, 3, and Kion, 1, at about 7:30 a.m. on Dec. 25.

Rodriguez said based on their investigation, Karina died of asphyxia by strangulation. Siacunco reportedly strangled her with his hands before hanging her to deceive investigators and her family and make it appear that she committed suicide.

The police said Siacunco murdered his two kids by strangling them with his hands and rope, and covered them with a pillow. He surrendered to the police.

Rodriguez said depression and jealousy are the two possible motives why he killed his family. The suspect told the police that he was suffering from depression because he was jobless and often heard snide remarks from relatives that he was being supported by his wife.

On the other hand, relatives said he was jealous because of Karina's work as a call center agent. Karina would reportedly entertain calls from clients but the suspect never proved that his wife had an extramarital affair, Rodriguez said.

The bodies of the three victims lie in state at the Our Lady of Loreto Funeral Services in Lower Bicutan, Taguig, and will be brought to Iloilo.

Rodriguez said Siacunco will be taken to the National Center for Mental Health for psychiatric and psychological evaluation.

Siacunco is currently detained at the Taguig City Police Station custodial facility.
