2 drown as Christmas outing turns tragic in Negros Oriental

BACOLOD CITY – A Christmas Day outing turned tragic for a group of friends after two of their companions drowned at a beach resort in Barangay Campuyu, Manjuyod, Negros Oriental.

The drowning victims were identified as Junmar Dagle and Samjun Lara, both 20 years old, and from Bais City.

According to the local police, the two victims went on an outing with their friends at a beach resort in Barangay Campuyu to celebrate Christmas.

But when Dagle and Lara went for a swim, they were reportedly engulfed by huge waves.

Their companions tried to rescue them but they failed.

Dagle’s body was found on Saturday morning, while Lara’s was found later in the afternoon.

Police said the victims’ remains were already turned over to their families.
