Black Sheep, the film company under ABS-CBN, has called on the public to report cases of film piracy at the 2020 Metro Manila Film Festival.
"We've got BIG (eggplant emoji) SURPRISES in store for you in Fan Girl, and we want you to see them the way they were meant to be seen… Report cases of piracy to the Black Sheep social media pages, and see the film NOW via http://Upstream.ph. Black heart #MMFFonUPSTREAM," the film outfit shared on Twitter along with a warning poster.
"Fan Girl," produced by Black Sheep, is one of the 10 entries in the virtual Metro Manila Film Festival.
"You just might end up in jail," the film production said.
Black Sheep said that MMFF films are better appreciated in full high-definition.
"Do yourself a favor and see every little (and big) detail not only in Fan Girl, but for all the films in the Metro Manila Film Festival."
Paulo Avelino, lead star of "Fan Girl," trended on Twitter after his fans made big news about the frontal nude scene.
"It's not that I'm holy but I didn't expect it though," a netizen wrote about Paulo showing off his genitals in the movie.
"No hate to Paulo Avelino. He's a celebrity and he does things as an artist. As for me who is far from being one, I'd wish to trend someday, but not because of my d**k," another added.
"Fan Girl" revolves around Jane (played by Charlie Dizon), Paulo Avelino’s biggest fan girl. Her obsession with Paulo Avelino (Paulo Avelino plays as himself) leads her to hide at the back of his pick-up truck and follow him “home.” She ends up in an unfamiliar house in an unfamiliar place with an unfamiliar Paulo Avelino, the idol she thought she knew from head to foot, heart and soul.
The same movie was screened at the Tokyo International Film Festival and Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival. It is directed by Antoinette Jadaone.
