BuCor allows face-to-face visits

Months after it was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, face-to-face visitation has been temporarily allowed by the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) in time for the holiday season.

Called "Controlled Dalaw," the BuCor said in its Facebook page that it is face-to-face but there is no physical contact and it lasts for only 15 minutes.

It started on Christmas Day and will be until New Year's Day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

BuCor said they strictly follow a one Person Deprived of Liberty (PDL), one visitor policy.

The lifting of the visitor privilege came almost nine months after it was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

BuCor said that the first day of the Controlled Dalaw was successful and they are following the minimum health protocols set by the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) such as wearing of face masks, face shields, and observing of social distancing.

Those who visited the PDLs brought their own sanitizers and medical certificates. There is also a handwashing and footbath area put up for them.
