A 5.3-magnitude earthquake struck Davao Occidental on Christmas Day after a stronger tremor hit Batangas province earlier in the day, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.Â

The earthquake, which occurred at 10 a.m., was tectonic in origin, and was traced 95 kilometers southeast of Sarangani, Davao Occidental.
The quake had a depth of 111 km, with the following registered intensities:Â Intensity II -Alabel, Sarangani and Intensity I - Kiamba, Sarangani; Koronadal City; General Santos City.
