WATCH: ABS-CBN releases teaser for 'Darna' 2021 featuring Jane de Leon

Jane De Leon is ready to fly in Darna's famous red two-piece costume for a TV series early next year.

During ABS-CBN 2020 Christmas special "Together as One," Jane was seen doing stunts in an omnibus trailer for “Mars Ravelo’s Darna: The TV Series” which was announced as one of the upcoming Kapamilya titles in 2021.

Darna is a fictional Filipino comics superheroine created by writer Mars Ravelo and artist Nestor Redondo.

The project was first announced in 2014 with Angel Locsin in the lead and Erik Matti as the film's director.

But Angel had to deal with a back injury along the way, eventually leading to her dropping out of the project in 2015. She was replaced by Liza Soberano in 2017.

A year later, Erik backed out of the project citing “artistic differences with ABS-CBN.” He was replaced by Jerrold Tarog.

In April 2019, ABS-CBN issued a press statement announcing Liza had left the project due to a “finger injury.”

Months later, Jane was named her successor.

Last August, it was announced that “Darna” is not pushing through due to the ongoing pandemic.

Few weeks ago, talks surfaced that a TV series on the same might air next year.
