Fans take to Twitter to condole with Edward Barber after his grandma's death

Last December 21, the Twitter feeds of the fans of the remarkable Kapamilya love team MayWard (Maymay Entrata and Edward Barber) were flooded with condolences, words of comfort, and prayers.

This, after the fans, found out that Edward’s beloved grandmother, whom he fondly calls Auntie Mely, has passed away in La Union.

A Facebook post from one of the actor’s relatives from his mother's side, the Abellera clan, hinted to the young actor's supporters about the demise of the family’s matriarch.

Edward is quite close to his mother’s kinfolks even calling them his first and most ardent fans even when he was still a young boy and not yet in showbiz.

Last year, he even posted on his Instagram page an endearing picture of him and his grandmother inside a van reportedly coming from a hospital, with a message: “Messy hair, I don’t care, she’s the only gift I need this Christmas”.

Based on his previous virtual interviews, the young actor said he was set to enjoy his long Christmas vacation in La Union since it has been their tradition to spend time with his mother's family during these holidays.

Edward’s loss came amid his busy schedule of promoting his latest movie with Maymay titled Princess “Daya” Reese, which will be Star Cinema’s new year offering.

It was not the first time, fans shared Edward’s sorrow as he also experienced a time of grief when he was inside the PBB house when his paternal grandmother died, and the sad news was personally relayed to him by his dad, Kevin.
