Civil Aviation suspend UK flight due to new strain virus

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) immediately issued Notice to Airmen (notam) regarding the temporary suspension of flights to and from the United Kingdom (UK) due to the new strain virus.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte approved the recommendation of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) suspending all international flights coming from the United Kingdom (UK) starting December 24 to December 31, 2020 due to the new strain of virus rapidly spreading through Britain.

All international, balikbayans and vacationing Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and merely in transit are temporarily restricted from entering the country for the same period.
 
All in-coming passengers who are already in transit from the UK and all those who have been to the UK will be undergo stricter quarantine and testing protocols for 14 days upon arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminals and other international airports in the country starting at 12:01 AM of December 24, 2020.
 
Public Affairs Office head Connie Bungag of the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said passengers who will arrived at NAIA will be isolated for 14 days quarantine in isolation area at NAIA and those who arrived in Clark International Airport quarantined at the Athlete’s Village in the New Clark City.
 
Bungag said that connecting flights from UK will be strictly monitored such as flights from Turkish Airlines, Royal Dutch KLM Airlines, Emirates Air and Qatar Airways while Philippine Airlines (PAL) believed to cancel their flight to London due to the new virus.
 
Outbound travel to the UK shall likewise be subject to the existing exit protocols of the Philippines and the UK.
 
Meanwhile, thousands of Filipino nurses and Filipino workers working in Saudi Arabia and UK will be affected by the ban or cancelations of flights.
 
Filipino nurses with departures this week and maybe next week may have to postpone or rebook their flights to the United Kingdom as the beleaguered island nation has cancelled all international flights to and fro  all the airports in England due to the new strain of Covid 19 which is running out of control according to England’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
 
40 other countries from Europe and other parts of the world have also banned flights coming from the UK including France which has closed all it’s borders with the UK and banned all land, sea and air routes to that country.
 
The ban is temporary but will depend on the number of measures the UK government is taking to control the new virus with a Tier 4 lockdown on many parts of the UK.
