CHR finds no guns, explosives in Gabriela’s Quezon City office

A women’s rights group on Wednesday opened its national office in Quezon City to inspection by the Commission on Human Rights (CHR).

Members of Gabriela opened boxes and cabinets and allowed CHR personnel to see the rooms of their office in Barangay Laging Handa.

Aside from the CHR team, village representatives also took part and witnessed the inspection.

In a Facebook post, Gabriela said the inspection was conducted “in response to intensified red-tagging and planting of fake evidence on government critics.”

The inspection yielded no firearms or explosives.

Gabriela is one of the progressive organizations that have been accused by the government as “legal fronts” of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) and its armed wing, the New People’s Army (NPA).

It was the latest group which had its office inspected by CHR after Bayan Muna, Makabayan, and Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) last week.

They took the initiative of opening their offices to inspection to show they are not hiding any firearms and explosives.
