Police nab three ‘high value targets’ in drug bust operations


CAMP OSCAR FLORENDO, La Union – Three high value targets were arrested by police in separate drug bust operations in Pangasinan and Ilocos Sur on Tuesday (Dec. 22, 2020). 

In Pangasinan, two high value individuals (HVIs) were arrested while some Php. 340,000.00 worth of illegal drugs were seized in a drug buy-bust operation. 

The operations were conducted in Barangay San Miguel, Calasiao, Pangasinan by members of PDEA RO1 – Pangasinan Provincial Office, Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 1 (RPDEU1), Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), and Calasiao Police Station. 

Police Regional Office 1 Regional Director Police Brigadier General Rodolfo Azurin, Jr. identified these suspects as Mark Joseph U. Abot, 32, married and a resident of Europa Legarda, Baguio City; and Salvador P. Estaris, 38, married and a resident of Brgy. Palguyod, Pozzorubio, Pangasinan. Both were arrested at San Miguel, Calasiao, Pangasinan.

Seized from these two were: one-piece heat-sealed sachet alleged shabu with weight of 50 grams; two pieces of brown envelope, cellphone, and thousand and hundred peso bills used for boodle money.

They are now currently under the custody of PDEA-Pangasinan, while cases for violation of Sections 5 and 15 of Article II of RA 9165 are being readied for filing at the court.

In Ilocos Sur, another suspect, Anthony Ragudo Sardenia, 28, married and a resident of Brgy. Sisim, Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, was arrested.

Azurin said that Sardenia is one of the top regional priority targets under COPLAN “Dark Horse” of Cabugao MPS and PDEA Target List.

Sardenia was arrested by joint operatives of RPDEU1, ISPDEU, Regional Intelligence Division-PRO1, Provincial Intelligence Unit-Ilocos Sur, PDEA ISPO, Cabugao MPS, 2nd Ilocos Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company and Maritime Cabugao Precinct, armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Homerjay Ragonjan at 7:30 AM on December 22.

The operation yielded approximately one gram of shabu with an estimated DDB value of  Php 6,800.00.

The suspect is now under the custody of Cabugao police while charges for violation of Sections 1 and 5 of RA 9165 will be filed against him.
