Calvin Abueva officially signed a three-year extension with Phoenix Super LPG following a splendid comeback from a 16-month suspension.

His agent Danny Espiritu posted a photo showing Abueva bumping fists with Phoenix team governor Raymond Zorrilla after inking on the dotted line Tuesday afternoon.

Terms were not disclosed but Abueva’s contract is estimated at P15.12 million since he’ll receive the maximum monthly salary of P420,000.

Abueva was rewarded after a superb showing in the recent PBA bubble that saw the Fuel Masters fell a game short of reaching the finals for the first time in franchise history.

He averaged 15.4 points, 11.3 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.7 steals in 12 games for Phoenix during the PBA Philippine Cup in Pampanga and is a candidate for the Best Player of the Conference award.

It was Abueva’s first conference since PBA commissioner Willie Marcial slapped an indefinite ban for a pair of misconducts in mid-2019. He returned six games into the bubble, and has shown nothing but restraint and composure since.

Those qualities have not prevented Abueva from displaying his trademark energy which allowed Phoenix to reach the semifinals against TNT.

Phoenix took a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five affair, only for TNT to come back and win the last two games to reach the Finals.
