Two explosions rock Jaen municipal hall

NUEVA ECIJA-----Authorities are now investigating two explosions that took place near gate 5 of the Jaen Municipal Hall at around 4:25 p.m., Sunday, December 20, while there was a brownout.

There was no casualty in the incident.

Police Regional Office 3 (PRO-3) Director Brig. Gen. Valeriano T. De Leon said personnel of the Jaen Municipal Police were conducting security measures inside the Jaen Municipal Hall compound when they heard two explosions near gate 5.

Initial investigation revealed the improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were set off, with nails used as shrapnel.

Recovered were pieces of a motorcycle battery, nails, and bottles with gasoline residue.

The explosions occurred during a power interruption in the whole municipality.

Police will review the CCTV camera installed in the area for any possible leads on the incident.
