Gutierrez, who hails from the town of Paniqui, decried the death of Sonya Gregorio and Frank Anthony Gregorio who were shot dead by a police officer on Sunday.
A viral video showed the suspect, Police Senior Master Sgt. Joel Nuezca, shot his two neighbors after a verbal altercation over the victims’ use of “boga” or firecracker in their hometown.
Nuezca, who is assigned in Parañaque City, surrendered to authorities in Pangasinan. He has been turned over to Paniqui Police and is facing a double murder case.
In a Twitter post, Gutierrez said he was shocked to witness what he described as a “brazen, cold-blooded murder in my own community.”
“Murders like this, of sons and mothers, in broad daylight, have been happening in all our communities the past 4 years,” he noted.
Robredo’s spokesman used the hashtags #StopTheKillingsPH in his post, which topped the trending topics in the country as senators, celebrities, and netizens reacted to the police killing of the Gregorios.
