QC LGU 'rescues' over 300 minors out in public; shuts down tiangges for allowing entry of minors
In line with its campaign to keep minors indoors amid the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, the Quezon City government has rescued at least 340 caught out in public in a massive operation with the Quezon City Police District.

It has also shut down several tiangges or bazaars in Robinsons Novaliches for allowing the entry of people below 18 years old.
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte recently signed an ordinance banning minors in all public places, whether alone or accompanied by parent or guardian, without any justification, to curb the spread of COVID-19.
“Seryoso ang lungsod sa pagpapatupad ng patakarang ito upang mapanatiling ligtas ang ating mga kabataan sa virus (The city is serious in enforcing this rule to keep young people safe from the virus)," Belmonte said in a statement issued on Monday.
“Isantabi muna natin ang pagiging matigas ang ulo dahil naririyan pa rin ang panganib na dulot ng pandemya, na posibleng lumala lalo ngayong maraming tao ang lumalabas dahil sa kapaskuhan (Let us put aside being stubborn for now because there is still danger brought by the pandemic, that will possibly get worse as more people go outside because of the Christmas season)," she added.
All rescued minors were brought to Centris Command post for the profiling of their parents while some were turned over to their respective barangays for counseling from the Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC).
The Task Force also issued Ordinance Violation Receipts (OVR) to the parents or guardians of the rescued minors.
The city government encouraged the public to report minors and parents violating the ordinance through the complaint-reporting platform, QCitizen Watch on the Official QC website https://qceservices.quezoncity.gov.ph/.
