BTS’ ‘Dynamite,’ IU’s ‘Eight’ named top favorite songs in Korea in 2020: Gallup survey

K-pop superstars BTS’ “Dynamite,” IU’s “Eight” and Mamamoo member Hwasa’s “Maria” have been named as the top favorite songs in Korea in 2020.

Gallup Korea’s year-end survey was conducted among 5,100 respondents aged 13 and above all over Korea except Jeju three times this year from July 2 to 22, Sept. 17 to Oct. 20, and Nov. 5 to 29. The respondents were asked to name their favorite songs this year.

The results were grouped into two categories: 13 to 39 age group and 40 and above age group.

In the 13 to 39 age group, BTS’ “Dynamite” was voted as the No. 1 favorite song of 2020 with 19.6 percent. In 2019, BTS “Boy with Luv” came first with 5.9 percent.

The top 10 favorite songs in the 13 to 39 age group in Korea in 2020 are:

  1. BTS’ “Dynamite” - 19.6 percent
  2. IU’s “Eight” - 7.6 percent
  3. Hwasa’s “Maria” - 5.8 percent
  4. Zico’s “Any Song” - 5 percent
  5. BLACKPINK’s “Lovesick Girls” - 3.9 percent
  6. Lim Young-woong’s “Trust in Me” - 3.7 percent
  7. Jessi’s “Nunu Nana” and BTS’ “Boy With Luv” (tie) - 3.4 percent
  8. BLACKPINK’s “How You Like That” - 3.2 percent
  9. Young Tak’s “Jjin-iya” - 3.1 percent

Among the age group 40 and above, the top favorite songs of 2020 are:

  1. Young Tak’s “Drink Makgeolli” - 12.8 percent
  2. Lim Young-woong’s “Trust in Me” - 10.1 percent
  3. Young Tak’s “Jjin-iya” - 9.5 percent
  4. Na Hoon-a’s “Tess Hyung!” - 8.8 percent
  5. Jin Sung’s “At Andong Station” - 6.3 percent
  6. Lee Chan-won’s “Jinttopagi” - 5.9 percent
  7. Jin Sung’s “Period of Spring Poverty” - 5.5 percent
  8. Lim Young-woong’s “Hope” - 5.3 percent
  9. Lim Young-woong’s "The Story of an Old Couple in Their 60s" - 5.2 percent
  10. Lim Young-woong’s "Purple-Colored Postcard" - 4.7 percent
