Boy, 16 killed in freak accident

A 16-year-old boy died after he was run over by a jeepney in Intramuros, Manila Sunday morning (Dec. 20).

Police identified the fatality as Rhandelle Luis Capili of Marilao, Bulacan and the jeepney driver as Rolly Escanilla, 48 of Port Area, Manila. 

Investigation showed that Capili was riding his bike and travelling southbound along Padre Burgos Avenue in Intramuros, Manila at around 10 a.m. along with other bikers when Escanilla’s jeep suddenly appeared and hit Capili’s bike in the corner of Victoria Street.  Capili fell to the ground and was run over by the front right and rear wheels of the jeepney. 

He was rushed to Ospital ng Maynila but was declared dead on arrival. 

Escanilla is now under police custody and may face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property.
